Test of the Emergency Alert System
On Wednesday 14 June at 12.00 noon, the Emergency Alert System will be tested on the mobile telephone network while the physical warning sirens/warning systems will be activated throughout Norway, including Svalbard, in a national warning system test.

Based on the weather conditions over the past 24 hours and the weather forecast, there is still a risk of wet snow avalanches, but there is a low risk of such avalanches reaching roads and buildings according to NGI.

Increased risk of wet snow avalanches in Longyearbyen
Based on avalanche expert advice from the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), the Governor will urge the public to exercise caution along Roads 100 and 300 as there is an increased risk of wet snow avalanches (see the map).

The travel ban on Road 300 has been lifted
On the recommendation of NGI, the Governor has lifted the travel ban on Road 300 from Huset down to bridge 501 (Museumsveien) from 12:00 noon today 11 April.

Lifts the travel ban above Road 100 and parts of Road 300
Based on avalanche expert assessments from NGI, the Governor has decided to lift the travel ban on the upper side of Road 100 from 17:00 today, 10 April. The travel ban on Road 300 from Huset up to Gruvelageret is also lifted. The travel ban on Road 300 from Huset down to bridge 501 (Museumsveien) will be maintained until further notice.

Allows driving in snow scooter-free area
Due to the great risk of avalanches, the Governor allows snow scooter driving from Reindalen through Tverrdalen and Bolterdalen until late Monday night.

Travel ban on the upper side of Road 100, Road 300 remains closed
The Governor has decided to introduce a travel ban on the upper side of Road 100 from the old hospital and all the way up to and including Nybyen. The ban will apply from Saturday 8 April at 20:00. Road 300 remains closed until further notice and there is a travel ban in the area.

Road 300 closed until further notice
There have been several avalanches from Platåberget, and the Governor has decided that Road 300, from the intersection at the old museum and all the way up to Gruvelageret, will be temporarily closed.
