High avalanche danger in the western region


There is a high avalanche danger – danger level 4 – for the western Svalbard region on Monday 3. February. There is no increased avalanche danger in Longyearbyen itself according to the avalanche forecast from Skred AS.

NVE reports a high avalanche danger for the western Svalbard region on Monday 3 February. They warn that large naturally triggered avalanches may occur, and that dry slab avalanches are expected due to fresh snow and wind.
