Travel ban on the upper side of Road 100, Road 300 remains closed
The Governor has decided to introduce a travel ban on the upper side of Road 100 from the old hospital and all the way up to and including Nybyen. The ban will apply from Saturday 8 April at 20:00. Road 300 remains closed until further notice and there is a travel ban in the area.

The Governor has had a meeting with NGI and Longyearbyen Local Council about the risk of avalanches. Based on advice from NGI and the weather forecast, the Governor has decided to introduce a travel ban on the upper side of Road 100, as well as maintain the travel ban along Road 300.
The travel ban along Road 100 applies to the upper side of the road as well as the snowmobile trail from the old hospital up to and including the upper side of Nybyen. The ban does not apply to traffic along Road 100 itself.
Road 300 from bridge 501 up to and including Gruvelageret remains closed and there is a travel ban in the area until further notice.
The Governor will make a new assessment of the situation tomorrow, Sunday 9 April.
