Road 300 closed until further notice

There have been several avalanches from Platåberget, and the Governor has decided that Road 300, from the intersection at the old museum and all the way up to Gruvelageret, will be temporarily closed.

There have been several avalanches from Platåberget today. The Governor has therefore decided to temporarily close road 300 from the intersection at the old museum (bridge 501) and all the way to Gruvelageret.

A travel ban has also been introduced on the upper side of road 300 from bridge 501 and to Gruvelageret. This means that the ski trail is not available.

Updated at 17:00: The Governor has had a meeting with NGI and Longyearbyen Local Council and has concluded that the road closure and travel ban will be maintained until further notice.
